Liverpool have reportedly had their bid worth £42 million rejected for Lille defender Leny Yoro amid interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid. According to Mundo Deportivo, the French outfit are looking for a £50 million offer to let him go. Even if the Reds match this valuation, it isn't guaranteed that they will get their man.
As per Express, the 18-year-old central defender's dream destination is Santiago Bernabeu. However, there is still time for the Merseysiders to convince Yoro, given that Real Madrid and Lille have yet to agree on a fee.
The Ligue 1 side are also in a race against time to finalize a deal for Yoro, who only has a year left on his current contract. Should he run it out, the youngster will have the chance of leaving for free in the summer of 2025.
At the moment, a move to the Spanish capital may seem more tempting to any player. This season, Real Madrid won the La Liga title as well as the UEFA Champions League trophy. They also completed a blockbuster signing for French superstar Kylian Mbappe.
On the other hand, Liverpool haven't been particularly poor but failed to win major honors this campaign. They finished third in the Premier League standings, nine points behind champions Manchester City, but managed to win the Carabao Cup.
Should Yoro arrive at Anfield, he would earn himself the chance to play alongside Virgil van Dijk, a player considered to be among the top centre-backs in the sport. This season, the France under-23 international made 44 appearances across competitions for Lille, bagging three goals.
Al-Nassr interested in signing Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk-Reports
Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr wish to sign Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk this summer, as per MARCA. Moreover, it is believed that they would table an offer that would make the Dutchman the highest-paid defender in the world.
The Reds will be sweating over van Dijk's future, with just one year left on the defender's contract at Anfield. However, the former Southampton man himself has failed to confirm where he will be playing next season. After his team's last game of the campaign, he said (via Liverpool.com):
"I am very excited (for the future), especially next season."
He was crucial this season as well, playing 48 games across competitions, bagging four goals and two assists. To date, van Dijk has won the Premier League and UEFA Champions League once each, among other honors at Anfield.
