Liverpool and Arsenal scouting £51 million rated Serie A star: Reports

Arne Slot
Arne Slot's side and Mikel Arteta's club are both keen to sign a new forward.

Liverpool and Arsenal are allegedly interested in adding Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman to their respective star-studded ranks in the future.

Lookman, 26, established himself as one of the best attackers in the Serie A owing to his brilliant performances last season. He helped Atalanta win the UEFA Europa League, netting 17 goals and registering 10 assists in 45 games in all competitions in the process.

Now, according to The Boot Room, four Premier League clubs sent their scouts to attend Atalanta's 0-0 UEFA Champions League home draw against Arsenal earlier this Tuesday. Apart from the visitors, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United were all represented in Bergamo as the quartet are aiming to sign Lookman in the future.

Should the £51 million-rated Nigerian forward seal a transfer to Liverpool, he could prove to be a fine signing. He would provide stellar competition on either flank and also pop up as a number 10 option for them.

On the other hand, the former RB Leipzig and Everton man could emerge as a key starter for Mikel Arteta's outfit should he join them. He could push Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard down the pecking order.

Lookman, whose current deal will expire in June 2026, has made 81 appearances across competitions for Atalanta. The Liverpool and Arsenal target has bagged 33 goals and laid out 19 assists for his club so far.

Arsenal great names tweak Arne Slot must implement at Liverpool after recent triumph

Earlier on Tuesday (September 17), Arne Slot's side began their UEFA Champions League campaign on a great note. They bounced back from their 1-0 home league loss against Nottingham Forest to register a 3-1 win at AC Milan in their continental league phase game.

After the end of the clash, Arsenal legend Paul Merson highlighted one key area of improvement for the Anfield outfit. He told Sky Sports (h/t TBR):

"I just think they have got to move the ball quicker. I know people will say it's different now with the manager, it's slower, but this is different to Dutch football. It's not as open, teams are going to come back, they are going to sit back behind the ball, and do a job."

The Reds, who have won four of their five matches across competitions under Slot so far, will next face Bournemouth at Anfield in a league contest on Saturday. They are fourth in the Premier League table with nine points from four matches, relishing a +6 goal difference.
