Liverpool dealt fresh blow as defender set to miss six weeks of action due to hamstring injury: Reports

Arne Slot
Arne Slot's side are currently on a 15-game unbeaten run.

Liverpool are reportedly set to be without young right-back Conor Bradley for up to six weeks after the Northern Irishman recently suffered a hamstring injury.

Earlier on Wednesday (November 27), Bradley impressed with an astute performance in a 2-0 UEFA Champions League win against Real Madrid at Anfield. He laid out an assist, and won two of his four tackles and eight of his 13 total duels against the reigning La Liga champions.

However, Bradley suffered an injury in the latter stages of the continental game. The 21-year-old was replaced by Joe Gomez in the 87th minute of the match, which saw the Reds defeat Real Madrid for the first time since 2009.

Now, according to Belfast Telegraph, Bradley is set to be sidelined for around six weeks owing to a hamstring issue. He will miss Premier League matches against Manchester City, Everton, and Manchester United. He will also miss a Champions League game against Girona and an EFL Cup tie against Southampton.

So far this campaign, Bradley has started four of his 12 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool. He has provided one assist in 511 minutes of action.

Liverpool star previews Manchester City clash

Ahead of Liverpool's Premier League home contest against Manchester City on Sunday, Reds forward Cody Gakpo shared his thoughts on the Anfield encounter. He told club media:

"It is a massive opportunity, I think against a very good team, one of the best teams in Europe actually [who have been] dominating a lot of games in recent years. But this is a massive chance for us to show them what we are made of and that's what we are planning to do. So, hopefully it's going to be a good game from us again and we end up with a win."

Stating his team are not focused on their league position, he added:

"Obviously we are in a good position, you cannot deny that. But I think it's still early in the season so we are not really looking at the table yet. Obviously we are aware of the situation but we have to keep winning the games to stay on top and also just to win the games. That's what we are training for, working hard for, staying calm for as well."

Liverpool are atop the Premier League table with 31 points from 12 matches, while Manchester City are fourth with 23 points from 12 league games.

Meanwhile, Gakpo has contributed seven goals and two assists in 19 total matches, including nine starts, for the Merseyside outfit this campaign.
