Liverpool have been handed a transfer boost as Juventus are ready to drop Federico Chiesa's asking price to €30 million, as per Tuttosport. AS Roma are also actively pursuing a deal to conclude Chiesa's signing.
Juve initially wanted €40 million for Chiesa but the attacker had a disappointing campaign at Euro 2024 with Italy. Apart from the game against Albania, Chiesa's performances were below-par, especially in the Round of 16 game against Switzerland. They lost 2-0 against the Swiss, crashing out of the tournament.
As a result, his asking price has dropped. GiveMeSport had previously reported that Liverpool admire Chiesa and could contemplate a summer move for the Italy international. At €30 million, he could turn out to be a good signing.
Chiesa, 26, has so far made 131 appearances for Juventus, scoring 32 goals and providing 23 assists. The former Fiorentina star has suffered with inconsistent form. However, when he is on song, Chiesa could be a nightmarish player to deal with for defenders.
Chiesa's current deal with the Old Lady expires at the end of the 2024-25 season. With several top clubs interested, his future could become an interesting subject during the ongoing 2024 summer transfer window.
Journalist provides disappointing update on Liverpool's two transfer targets
Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori have been named among Liverpool's defensive transfer targets in the summer. Journalist Ben Jacobs, however, has provided a disappointing update.
He claimed that the Merseysiders have downplayed any talks regarding Calafiori. This suggests that the Italy international is not a target for the Anfield club in the summer. Jacobs claims the club's stance is the same on Hincapie, telling GiveMeSport:
"There's denial from sources close to Liverpool that he's a target that they're looking to pursue."
While the Reds are looking to improve the squad before starting a new era under Arne Slot, the defense might not be the priority. The familiar faces of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate could very well be the main defenders next season.
