Liverpool reportedly made an attempt to sign Real Madrid duo Aurelien Tchouameni and Rodrygo Goes in the summer. However, they were rebuffed by Los Blancos, who view the two players as key to their plans.
As reported by TBR Football, Arne Slot's side made early attempts to sign the two players in the summer. However, Real Madrid made it abundantly clear that they would not consider selling either player.
Both Tchouameni and Rodrygo have been heavily linked with Liverpool before joining Los Blancos. Both players reportedly snubbed the Reds to join the Spanish giants but the Merseyside giants have seemingly maintained their interest in the duo.
Tchouameni and Rodrygo have been key players for Carlo Ancelotti's side over the years. They both played pivotal roles for Los Blancos last season, as they won both the Champions League and the La Liga title.
Tchouameni joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 in a reported €100 million deal from Monaco and has made 93 appearances for the club so far. He has helped the club win seven trophies while establishing himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in world football.
Rodrygo, on the other hand, joined the Spanish capital club in a reported €45 million deal from Santos in 2018. The Brazil international has made 221 appearances for the club so far, contributing 55 goals and 42 assists and has won 12 trophies.
Liverpool had an unusually quiet transfer window last time out despite undergoing a managerial change. They signed only Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili, with the latter spending the season on loan at Valencia.
Liverpool legend backs Reds star to join Real Madrid
Liverpool icon Graeme Souness has backed Trent Alexander-Arnold to join Real Madrid next summer. The full-back's current deal at Anfield expires in the summer of 2025 and Souness believes that he will depart on a free transfer.
Souness has claimed that Liverpool might already be aware of Alexander-Arnold's intentions, which is why he is being substituted early in games this season. The Scotsman has insisted that the England international's strong friendship with Jude Bellingham might play a big role in convincing the 25-year-old to join Real Madrid.
Souness said, as quoted by The Mirror:
“Trent Alexander-Arnold is tailor-made for Real Madrid in terms of the way he plays, and he’s got an unbelievable delivery – not to mention he’s good friends with Jude Bellingham."
The former Reds midfielder added:
"He could end up at Madrid and that message may already have been relayed to Liverpool. I don’t see any obvious reason to take Trent off against Manchester United, other than if they know he’s leaving."
Alexander-Arnold has been one of the most important players at Anfield in recent years after coming through the youth ranks. He has made 313 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 19 goals and providing 81 assists in the process.
