Liverpool keen keen on signing 19-year-old Ligue 1 talent in €25m deal: Reports

Liverpool are interested in Lyon forward Malick Fofana, according to Fichajes. The 19-year-old has impressed with the Ligue 1 side this season, registering five goals and two assists from 16 games across competitions.

The Reds are pleased with his efforts and are planning to take him to Anfield in 2025. The Merseyside giants have been in blistering form under new boss Arne Slot this season.

The Dutch manager took charge of Liverpool over the summer following Jurgen Klopp's departure. Slot has combined youth with experience in his squad and has managed to get them firing on all cylinders.

However, there may be a need to revamp the attack amid the uncertainties surrounding the futures of Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz. The Egyptian has entered the final year of his contract with the Reds and hasn't signed a new deal yet.

Meanwhile, Diaz was also linked with an exit from Anfield over the summer. The Reds have apparently identified Fofana as a candidate to help maintain the high standards in attack.

The Frenchman has already shown that he is ready to take the next step in his career. Lyon are under financial turmoil and face relegation to Ligue 2 next summer unless they manage to turn the situation around.

The French outfit are likely to turn to player sales to address the issue and Liverpool are ready to take advantage. The Premier League leaders are apparently eyeing an offer worth €15-20m for Fofana, which could be a bargain. The player is under contract with Lyon until 2028.
