Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing highly-rated Wolverhampton defender Rayan Ait-Nouri amid interest from PL rivals Chelsea and Manchester City. Reports, according to TeamTalk, suggest that the Reds are currently in pole position to land the 23-year-old Algerian fullback.
Ait-Nouri is widely regarded as one of the Premier League's most promising fullbacks, due to his speed, intensity, and attacking prowess.
He was a standout performer for Wolves last season, making a combined total of 38 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
The Reds are, however, not expected to have a free run at Ait-Nouri's signature, as the left-back is currently being courted by league rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.
Both the Blues and the Citizens are believed to also hold strong interest in Ait-Nouri, as they aim to strengthen their left-back positions this summer.
Alongside Ait-Nouri, the Reds are also believed to be keen on signing Bundesliga-winning defender Odilon Kossounou. The Ivory Coast center-back is reportedly on Arne Slot's wishlist this summer, according to the Daily Briefing.
Kossounou made a combined total of 34 appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions, as he helped Xabi Alonso's men win the 2023-24 Bundesliga title unbeaten.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool succeed in their attempt to add both Ait-Nouri and Kossounou to their roster ahead of the new campaign.
Ex-Liverpool star backs Arne Slot to succeed at Anfield
Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has backed new club manager Arne Slot to succeed after taking up the reins following Jurgen Klopp's departure.
Slot has been tasked with spearheading what will be a new era at Anfield and Kuyt, for one, believes the Dutch tactician has what it takes to fill the void vacated by Klopp.
Speaking to The Athletic in April, as quoted by Football365, Kuyt claimed that although it wouldn't be an easy task for Slot, he has what it takes to be successful at Anfield.
"Following in the footsteps of Jurgen isn’t easy but Arne will do it his own way and give everything to make the club successful,” Kuyt said.
He continued:
“He’s determined and driven with a lot of self-belief. His style of play is exactly what Liverpool supporters love to see at Anfield. He’s also good with the media because he explains himself very clearly."
Slots will officially kickstart his tenure as the Reds' boss with an away trip to newly promoted side Ipswich Town in the Premier League on August 17.
