Premier League giants Liverpool have reportedly offered £65 million to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in January. The 24-year-old Englishman joined The Eagles in 2021 from Chelsea for a reported €23.34 million.

The Reds have arguably been the best side in Europe this season. Under new manager Arne Slot, they have lost just one game in the entire season and are at the summit of the Premier League table with 45 points in 18 games. The Merseysiders have also won all six games in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League so far.

At present, Liverpool have four centre-backs - Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, and Jarell Quansah. However, Konate is injured and Van Dijk's contract will expire in the summer of 2025, with no confirmation of an extension so far.

As per Fichajes.net (h/t Football365), Arne Slot is keen on strengthening the side's defense. The report states that The Reds have made an 'offer' of £65 million to Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi.

The Reds reportedly believe that Guehi ‘would be a bid to give greater solidity to the defense, bringing youth and quality, as well as great competition for the current players.’

However, Crystal Palace don't consider £65 million to be a sufficient amount for Guehi, whose current contract lasts till the summer of 2026. As per another claim by The Sun, Liverpool is Marc Guehi's 'first-choice destination.'

Liverpool superstar Virgil van Dijk opened up about his and Mohamed Salah's contract situation after The Reds thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 6-3 on December 22. The summer of 2025 will see the end of the current contract for three club legends - Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Van Dijk has been one of the stalwarts at the Liverpool backline since his arrival from Southampton in 2018 for a whopping €84.54 million. His contract was last extended in 2021 and will expire in the summer of 2025.

Speaking about his future after the game against Tottenham Hotspur, the defender said (via GOAL):

"There is no deadline at all. We will see what the future brings. Is there an update? No."

Van Dijk also talked about the contract situation of Mohamed Salah, saying:

"The numbers speak for themselves. He’s a very special athlete. He’s done amazingly for the club and hopefully, he can play his best season ever for the club, stay important with his goals and assists, and be clinical. He is a professional. We’ve been there, he’s been there, so onto the next [game]. And next season? I don’t know."

As per a report from CaughtOffside, the Dutch superstar wants to continue at Liverpool and is seeking a two-year extension with favorable financial conditions. Furthermore, The Reds are reportedly working to secure deals with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
