Liverpool are reportedly keen to splash a combined sum of £91 million to rope in Real Madrid target Martin Zubimendi and Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez in the January transfer window.

The Merseyside outfit, who are atop the Premier League table with 34 points from 13 matches, spent little earlier this summer. They signed Federico Chiesa in a potential £12.5 million move from Juventus and Giorgi Mamardashvili in a potential £29 million switch from Valencia, who retained their player on loan.

Now, according to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are hoping to reignite their interest in Zubimendi in the winter transfer window after being snubbed by the midfielder ahead of this season. They are set to activate the Real Sociedad star's £51 million release clause but could face competition from Real Madrid soon.

The Reds, who are also set to compete against Arsenal in their pursuit of Zubimendi, are said to be in a position to offer the 25-year-old a sizeable pay hike. With them in fine form of late, the Anfield side could convince the midfielder.

On the other hand, the Reds are believed to be big admirers of Kerkez. They see the left-back as the perfect option to replace Andrew Robertson in the future. They are likely to table a bid for the 21-year-old Manchester United target, who is currently rated at around £40 million by Bournemouth's hierarchy.

Real Madrid-linked star Trent Alexander-Arnold states he has faith in Liverpool boss' strategies

Ahead of Liverpool's Premier League clash at Newcastle United this Wednesday, Real Madrid-linked defender Trent Alexander-Arnold lauded Reds head coach Arne Slot. He remarked (h/t liverpool.com):

"When you're playing well and you're winning games, of course you feel good and you feel on top of the world. Also, we've had that confidence in the game plans that the manager and the coaching staff give us. We believe in them and we go out there and try to execute them as best we can."

Suggesting that his side are quite confident, the Real Madrid target said:

"With the previous games that we've had, we're full of confidence. We believe that we can beat any team and we've proven that so far this season. We've shown how good of a team and how good players we are. We've [been] very, very hard to beat... clearly. So, we go into games with confidence and I think that's rightly so."

So far this campaign, Liverpool have registered 18 wins and just one loss in 20 outings across all competitions. They have netted 46 goals, conceded 12 goals, and recorded 11 clean sheets under the ex-Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar boss.

Alexander-Arnold, on the other hand, has registered two assists in 16 appearances across all competitions for the Reds in the ongoing season.
