Mohamed Salah has reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Liverpool to extend his current contract, according to reports via Footy Insider. The player's current deal is expected to expire in the summer of 2025.

The 32-year-old Egyptian winger is among a couple of key Reds players whose long-term future at the club is far from being decided.

Salah, who is in his eighth season at Liverpool, could become a free agent when his current deal expires in June 2025. However, the Reds are currently making plans to extend the stay of their star winger.

Reports via Footy Insider revealed that an agreement in principle has been reached with Salah over a two-year deal that could keep him at Anfield until 2027, when he turns 35. However, the major obstacle to the extension being official currently hinges around the player's image rights, as per the aforementioned source.

"I will do my best for the team" - Mohamed Salah reacts to his future at Liverpool

The Egyptian winger revealed in a recent interview that his long-term future at the club is currently far from being decided. Salah, alongside Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, could all become free agents next summer if their contracts aren't extended by the Reds.

Speaking to Sky Sport after Liverpool's 5-1 win over West Ham United, Salah said he is still far away from agreeing to terms on a new deal at Anfield.

The 32-year-old Egyptian winger, however, expressed his desire to win a trophy with the Reds this season. When asked if fans should be expecting a good news soon, he said via Mirror:

"No, we are far away from that. I don't want to put something in the media and people start saying stuff, but nothing really [has] moved on but for now I'm focused on the team and hopefully we win the Premier League."

He added:

"I will do my best for the team to win the trophy. There is a few other teams catching up with us and we need to stay focused and humble and go again."

Salah has so far scored a combined total of 20 goals across all competitions for Liverpool this season, with 17 of those coming in the Premier League. He has also provided a total of 14 assists for the Reds.
