Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has reportedly made a decision on his future amid interest from La Liga giants Barcelona. The Blaugrana were interested in his services during their hunt for a left-winger last summer, but a transfer didn't go through, and he continued with the Reds.
Luis Diaz's contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027, which means he will have just two years left on his contract when this season ends. Reports had revealed that he could potentially leave the club if he and Liverpool could not come to an agreement about a contract extension. It was also believed that he would turn towards Barcelona if such a situation were to occur.
However, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg (via Barca Universal), the Colombian international has no intentions of leaving Anfield any time soon. The 27-year-old winger is reportedly happy at Anfield and is enjoying a budding and positive relationship with head coach Arne Slot.
He has been one of their most exciting players under the new Dutch boss, who took over from Jurgen Klopp during the summer. Luis Diaz has scored 11 goals and provided three assists in 23 games across competitions this season. He looks to have become an instrumental player at Liverpool, which will be a transfer blow for Barcelona.
Liverpool set their sights on Barcelona winger amid ongoing contract situation
Liverpool have set their sights on Barcelona winger Raphinha, amid stalled contract discussions with Egyptian legend Mohamed Salah. The mercurial winger is nearing the final six months of his contract at Anfield, and an extension has yet to be signed.
The Reds are prepared to let Salah go, and according to TBR Football (via The Kop Times), they have turned their sights towards Camp Nou. Raphinha has been an instrumental player for the Blaugrana this season, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists in merely 25 appearances across all competitions.
With the former Leeds United forward in the form of his life, Barcelona may not be interested in his exit under any circumstances. However, the Spanish giants are struggling with finances, and an impressive offer from Anfield could see a return for Raphinha to the Premier League.
In the meantime, Liverpool are positive that Mohamed Salah will renew his contract at the club. They are also looking to renew the contracts of their captain Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold in due course.
