Liverpool have reportedly tabled a bumper offer for right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold as rumors of Real Madrid's interest continue to make the rounds. The Englishman has entered the final six months of his contract with the Reds and is yet to sign a contract extension.

As per Mirror, Arne Slot's side have offered him a five-year contract worth £78 million. They are hoping this will be enough to convince Alexander-Arnold to extend his stay at his boyhood club, whom he joined as a six-year-old in 2004.

The same report claims that Madrid have also offered him a £300,000-a-week deal and will also offer him a signing-on fee. Los Blancos see him as a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, who is currently out due to an ACL injury and turns 33 next week.

The full-back has grown into one of the more important players at Anfield, helping them win the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, Carabao Cup, and the FA Cup among other honors.

This season, he has made 23 appearances for Arne Slot's side across competitions, scoring one and assisting five goals. The Reds are also flying high, leading the Premier League and the Champions League tables.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Trent Alexander-Arnold's future

Liverpool boss Arne Slot addressed Trent Alexander-Arnold's future recently. He said he expects the defender to continue performing in the same vein as he has in the first half of the ongoing season.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of his side's Premier League showdown against Manchester United on Sunday, January 5, Slot said (via BBC):

"I can tell you that he's playing on Sunday and hopefully he'll bring the same performances as he's brought in the last half year. I think everybody saw how great a first half of the season he had, how much he is here, how much he wants to win here.
"I see him on the training ground, working every day. He is fully committed to us and he will play on Sunday."

Along with Alexander-Arnold, the contracts of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also expire in the 2025 summer.
