Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Vitor Reis

Manchester City have reached an agreement on personal terms with teenage defender Vitor Reis, who is also said to be on Real Madrid's radar, as per Fabrizio Romano. The Premier League champions are reportedly keen to complete the €40 million signing of the Palmeiras youngster in the ongoing window to strengthen their squad.

Pep Guardiola's side have struggled with injury problems for much of this season, with the likes of Ruben Dias, John Stones, and Nathan Ake spending time on the sidelines. They have now identified 18-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis as a winter target and have entered into negotiations over a transfer.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester City are prepared to pay up to €40 million for the teenager, who enjoyed a breakout 2024 season at Palmeiras. City have already agreed on personal terms with the young defender.

Vitor Reis is the latest star to emerge from Palmeiras' talent factory after Endrick, who joined Real Madrid, and Estevao Willian, who will join Chelsea this year. Reis made 18 league appearances and two more in the Copa Libertadores as his side finished second in the Brasileirao Serie A last season.

Reis has long been identified as a top talent, with Real Madrid linked with a move for him for much of 2024. Los Blancos appear set to miss out on him as Manchester City are prepared to accelerate a deal to sign him this month.

Manchester City lead Real Madrid in race for Ligue 1 star - Reports

Manchester City could beat Real Madrid to the signing of Uzbekistan international Abdukodir Khusanov from Ligue 1 outfit RC Lens, as per AS. The Cityzens are keen to strengthen their ranks after a disappointing first half of the season, and have identified the central defender as a potential signing.

Khusanov, 20, has interested several sides across Europe with his meteoric rise in just 18 months at Lens. The youngster is wanted by the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea, with Lens resigned to losing him as per the aforementioned report.

Los Blancos view the young centre-back as the new coming of Raphael Varane, who they also signed as a youngster from Lens. But Manchester City are reportedly leading the race for Khusanov, and are prepared to meet his club's asking price.
