Manchester City have reportedly expressed interest in signing Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina. According to The Sun, the right-back has been earmarked as a replacement for club captain Kyle Walker.
The 34-year-old has had a difficult campaign in the midst of a horrible run of results for the defending champions. The report claims that the club are unhappy with Walker and are looking to find a replacement in the upcoming winter window or the summer.
Aina from the Tricky Trees has emerged as an option. The 28-year-old came up through Chelsea's academy and spent time at various other clubs before joining Nottingham from Torino in 2023. He has firmly established himself as a key player for Nuno Espirito Santo's side as they find themselves fourth in the Premier League this season. He has started every single game in the league, collecting two goals.
An overall revamp of the squad could be on the cards for Manchester City as they approach a critical portion of the season. With just one win in their last nine league games, the side have slipped to seventh in the league, 14 points behind Liverpool at the top. They could look to make some big additions in January to bolster their squad to revive their season.
Pep Guardiola insists Manchester City will find form again amidst poor run
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola assured fans that the side would return to their winning ways. Ahead of the side's clash against Leicester City on Sunday, he said (via Sky Sports):
"I've been, since I arrived in my career as a football player, as a manager, I think everyone of us, in our job, want to please the people, want to do good our job. That is undeniable. That is not a question mark, I would say.
"So, it's easy to understand. The greatest test when things are going badly. The greatest test that I've done. We will come back and that's what already happened. But that makes me remember how good was the past. That's the truth.
The defending Premier League champions are enduring a forgettable run of results as they prepare to face the Foxes. With just one win in their last 13 across all competitions, the side will be hoping to turn their fortunes over.
However, it might be a case of too little too late with regards to the title race for Manchester City. They are well off Liverpool at the top of the table who also have a game in hand.
