Manchester United eye move for striker who remains on Chelsea and Arsenal radar: Reports

Both Enzo Maresca's side and Erik ten Hag's outfit are keen to sign Benjamin Sesko.

Manchester United are reportedly keen to launch a permanent move to rope in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who has also attracted attention from Chelsea and Arsenal, next year.

Sesko, 21, has cemented himself as one of the best up-and-coming number nines in the world over the last season. He has registered 20 goals and four assists in 48 total games, including 28 starts, for his club.

Earlier this summer, the Slovenia international was allegedly heavily linked with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal. However, he opted to stay at his club and signed a contract until June 2029.

Now, according to GiveMeSport, the Red Devils are hoping to reignite their interest in the right-footed striker in the future. While they are unlikely to be overly active in the January transfer window, United's recruitment team are keen to sign the striker ahead of the next term.

Manchester United, who roped in Joshua Zirkzee for over £36 million from Serie A outfit Bologna earlier this summer, are likely to be rivalled by Chelsea and Arsenal. They are unwilling to lose the race to lure Sesko, who has a release clause of £55 million, away from Leipzig.

Ex-England ace asserts Manchester United star's transfer to Chelsea is best of summer

Speaking to betting website Safest Casino Sites, former England goalkeeper David James named Manchester United star Jadon Sancho as the signing of the summer window. He said (h/t The Standard):

"My signing of the window has to be Chelsea's capture of Sancho. He had a good debut against Bournemouth... looked really lively, and there's no doubt that there is a player in there. He's shown what he's all about at his two spells with [Borussia] Dortmund."

Opining on the Red Devils loanee's time at his parent club, he added:

"There was something about him at Manchester United which, for whatever reason, obviously didn't work. That can happen with players, particularly young ones, sometimes moves just don't work out. His second spell at Dortmund re-energised him."

James, who made 572 Premier League appearances, concluded:

"He's going to get lots of opportunities to showcase his talent at Chelsea this season. I think it's a great signing and a new environment could be exactly what he needs to start demonstrating that he is one of the best attacking players in the Premier League."

The 24-year-old, who left Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in 2021, has provided two assists in two games for the Stamford Bridge team.

Sancho could permanently join the Blues for £25 million next summer.
