Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Eddie Howe as they look for Erik ten Hag replacements. The Dutchman is under pressure at Old Trafford and the Red Devils are making a list of possible candidates to succeed him.

As per Football Insider, Newcastle United head coach Howe is one of the front runners. The Englishman has impressed Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and United's new part-owner is interested in bringing him to the club.

Howe reportedly has had issues with the Newcastle United board and could leave the Magpies soon. He is not happy with new sporting director Paul Mitchell and Newcastle are trying to solve the issue between the two.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking to take advantage of the situation and lure the former Bournemouth manager if they part ways with Ten Hag. The Dutchman has made a poor start to the season with two wins in five Premier League matches and also drew 1-1 to FC Twente in the UEFA Europa League.

Liverpool legend claims Manchester United will sack Ten Hag soon

Mark Lawrenson was talking to Sports Casting when he claimed Manchester United might be looking for Erik ten Hag's replacements. He said the Dutch manager has not done enough and the club will take the call to part ways if there is another slum in results.

“I think the treatment of Erik ten Hag over the summer wasn’t great. They were hawking around looking at potential suitors for Ten Hag’s job, I thought at one stage that he’d had enough and might just walk away. Since then, it looks like they’ve kissed and made up." Lawrenson said.
"I’m still not convinced with United but I do think they’ll be better this season. Will they be good enough to appease their owners, I’m not sure. I think if they have another slump, Ten Hag will get sacked. It seems like they’re waiting for that to happen,” he added.

However, Manchester United CEO spoke about Ten Hag earlier this month and claimed the Red Devils were fully behind Ten Hag. Omar Berrada told ESPN:

"We're very happy with that decision [to give Ten Hag a new contract]. Erik has our full backing and we have worked very closely together in this transfer window. We're going to continue working very closely with him to help him get the best results out of the team. Do we still believe in Erik? Absolutely. We think Erik is the right coach for us and we're fully backing him."

Apart from Eddie Howe, Thomas Tuchel has also been linked with the Old Trafford job. Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter have also been touted to be interested in the role.
