Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has reportedly alerted contacts in the Saudi Pro League to help Marcus Rashford find his next club. The Englishman is close to leaving Old Trafford after being left out of the Manchester derby by Ruben Amorim.
As per a report in The Atheltic, Ferdinand, an ambassador for the New Era Global Sports agency, is helping Rashford find his next club. The Red Devils legend has offered positive feedback on the 27-year-old and is in talks with Saudi Pro League contacts.
Rashford has confirmed that he is ready for his next challenge and has hinted at an exit from Manchester United. The Englishman spoke to Henry Winter earlier this week and said:
“For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave it's going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person. If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.”
Ruben Amorim has not closed the doors on Rashford and has stated that he is willing to help the forward. However, the manager dropped the 27-year-old from the Manchester United squad for the derby, and he has not been called up for the Tottenham clash in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals either.
Rio Ferdinand hints at Manchester United politics for Marcus Rashford decisions
Rio Ferdinand has hinted that there are several issues behind the scenes at Manchester United. He believes that Marcus Rashford has been caught in the middle of it but also believes that the striker has not been at his best for the club.
He said on his YouTube channel:
"This is not merely a football decision; there’s much more at play here. You must remember, when Rashford burst onto the scene, he was electrifying. His enthusiasm and body language embodied what every fan envisions when donning that red shirt. That’s what has puzzled me—his body language over the last three years hasn’t reflected the pride and passion that we expect from someone wearing a Man United jersey, especially when celebrating a goal or stepping onto the hallowed turf of Old Trafford."
"Fans want to see players who reflect their joy and ambition. Instead, Rashford’s demeanor has appeared almost melancholic, bordering on reclusive. Those who believe they may one day represent Man United should feel elated. It is a privilege to step out in that iconic red shirt regularly."
Arsenal and PSG have been linked with Marcus Rashford while Barcelona and Real Madrid are also said to be keeping tabs on him.
