Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Jonathan Tah's entourage over his possible signing, according to a report by SPORTbible. This comes after the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy and the beginning of Ruben Amorim's era as the new head coach.
At centre-back, the Red Devils currently have a good number of options, having signed Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt last summer. However, the contracts of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans would expire next summer.
This could be one of the reasons why the Red Devils are looking to sign Tah. He could serve as a replacement for any of the current centre-back options who might decide to leave the club.
Tah is an experienced defender, and his ability to lead and organize in defense is second to none. This could make him a decent addition to the Red Devils squad.
In the 2024-25 Bundesliga campaign, Tah has been brilliant for Bayer Leverkusen, winning 28 ground duels. He has registered 27 clearances and won 20 aerial duels while making 17 appearances across all competitions.
The 28-year-old is contracted at Bayer Leverkusen till June 2025. Meanwhile, he's yet to sign a new deal and might be leaving Leverkusen as a free agent next summer.
If he leaves as a free agent, Manchester United could sign him for free. But they might face some level of competition as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also interested in signing Tah.
Manchester United are interested in signing Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich - Reports
Journalist Florian Plettenberg had earlier said Leon Goretzka has no plan of leaving Bayern Munich. However, Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the player from the Bundesliga outfit, according to a report by TEAMtalk.
It was also reported that Bayern Munich are open to selling him as his current contract would expire in June 2026. In the tenure of Vincent Kompany as the manager of Bayern, Goretzka has witnessed a reduction in his game time. This season has seen him register only nine appearances so far.
If he fails to secure more minutes on the pitch, Goretzka might be tempted to leave the club if there's a decent offer on the table.
