Manchester United are unconcerned by the rumors linking Kobbie Mainoo to Chelsea, according to Caught Offside. Recent reports have suggested that the 18-year-old is demanding a contract worth £200,000 per week, forcing renewal talks to a standstill.
Mainoo captured the imagination of Red Devils fans after breaking into the first team under Erik ten Hag. He scored in the 2-1 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final last season and is now a first-team regular for Manchester United.
The player is currently on a contract reportedly worth £20,000 per week and is demanding wages that match his importance to the team. Chelsea are apparently keeping a close eye on the situation and have also been named as the frontrunners in the race to sign the Englishman.
However, it now appears that rumors suggesting that Mainoo is demanding a ten-fold increase in wages could be off the mark. Manchester United apparently have no desire to let the teenager leave as he is firmly in Ruben Amorim's plans.
Mainoo has started five of the Portuguese head coach's 12 games in charge and was outstanding in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool over the weekend. While Chelsea's interest in the player may be genuine, it is unlikely that he will end up at Stamford Bridge any time soon.
Will Jadon Sancho leave Manchester United to join Chelsea permanently this year?
Jadon Sancho joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer. The Englishman struggled to live up to expectations at Old Trafford and fell out of favor with former manager Erik ten Hag.
The Blues dived in to secure his services on a temporary move, and reportedly have an obligation to sign him permanently this summer. Sancho has been in decent form for the London giants so far, registering two goals and six assists from 16 games so far.
Speaking after setting up a goal against Crystal Palace over the weekend, the 24-year-old insisted that he is happy at Chelsea.
"I’ve felt really good since day one, the coach and the players have welcomed me and that’s all I can ask for. I’m taking it day by day and game by game. I’m very happy with my football. I just have to keep showing 100 per cent on the pitch," said Sancho via football.london.
Sancho's contract with Manchester United runs until 2026 and he has registered 12 goals and six assists from 83 games for the club so far.
