Manchester United identify Evan Ferguson as potential Marcus Rashford replacement

Manchester United have reportedly identified Evan Ferguson has a potential replacement for Marcus Rashford. They are looking to offload their academy graduate and bring in attacking replacements and will be open for a transfer in January itself.

Rashford came through the Red Devils' academy and has recorded 138 goals and 68 assists in 426 games for them. However, his form has declined massively since the start of last season. He's scored just seven goals and provided three assists in 24 games across competitions this season.

Hence, as per CaughtOffside, Manchester United are open to selling Rashford. They could be open to offloading him in January if a deal could be made with Paris Saint-Germain interested in the Englishman. His contract expires in 2028 and the club will demand around €60-70 million for him.

As a replacement, United are looking to sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton & Hove Albion. The youngster garnered attention after scoring six goals in 19 Premier League games in the 2022-23 season after graduation through Brighton's academy. However, injury concerns and poor form have seen him fall in the pecking order.

Ferguson, 20, has played just 350 minutes across 12 appearances this season, scoring one goal. The Seagulls are open to letting him leave, but only on loan, in January. For a potential sale, they could demand around €70 million, which could deter suitors.

Pundit believes Manchester United star Marcus Rashford will settle well at Arsenal

While Marcus Rashford has struggled individually, Manchester United have struggled as a whole as well. Despite their two cup wins in the last two seasons, their performances and results were quite poor. This saw Erik ten Hag getting sacked earlier this season, with Ruben Amorim taking over as the new head coach.

On the other hand, Arsenal have been consistent in the last two seasons, having finished second behind Manchester City. They are set to mount another Premier League title challenge this season and compete for other trophies as well. Pundit Danny Murphy believes Marcus Rashford will fit in well at a well-settled side like Arsenal.

"Playing in a team that's so settled and so confident and competent, there is a case that his end product would get much better, because Arsenal are really dominant in games," Murphy said on talkSPORT (via Mirro). "There would be some people who would take Rashford over [Gabriel] Martinelli."
"The ability he's got and physical attributes he has, he's capable of more," he added. "But he's been at a club where the managers and managerial team has not been stable, the team's not been great."

Rashford's contract with Manchester United expires in 2028 but it appears he is unlikely to last that long at the club.
