Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford may reportedly be heading out of the club in the near future. Dropped from the squad by new head coach Ruben Amorim, the Englishman recently expressed his desire to take on new challenges elsewhere. Reports from The Times (via Caught Offside) suggest that United are keen on offloading Rashford this year.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, who was speaking to mufcMPB, United have set a price tag of a minimum £40m for Rashford. It has also been reported that the 27-year-old has garnered interest from Barcelona in Spain as well as several Saudi Pro League clubs. However, it has also been reported that Rashford has no interest in moving to the Middle East just yet.
Rashford has been in rather indifferent form in the Premier League this season, having scored just four goals. In other competitions, he has bagged three goals (one in the Europa League and two in the EFL Cup). Along with his seven goals across all competitions, Rashford has also picked up three assists, rather low for a player expected to helm United's attacking output.
Marcus Rashford could reinvent himself at Barcelona after moving from Manchester United
Rashford could do with a move away from Manchester United as it would undoubtedly help his flagging career. The winger will be desperate to be in England manager Thomas Tuchel's plans as the latter builds a squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and that can only happen if he plays regularly. Rashford will look for a club where he gets to play regularly and without any sort of pressure.
Barcelona may be the right fit for Rashford in this scenario given that they do not have a lot of experienced players in their attacking department save Robert Lewandowski. Their wingers, Ferran Torres, Lamine Yamal, Ansu Fati and the like are still relatively young and new to the rigours of European football. Rashford could end up rediscovering himself at the Camp Nou.
However, for this move to materialize, Barcelona will have to shell out the £40m demanded by Manchester United. Rashford, for his part, has scored 138 goals in 426 appearances for his boyhood club United, whose ranks he came through as well.
