Manchester United's Harry Maguire was caught speeding in the same spot where once Cristiano Ronaldo crashed his Ferrari, The Daily Mail reports. The English defender was banned from driving for 56 days after being caught driving at 85mph on Wilmslow Road, which is a 50mph zone.

Maguire was handed a £666 fine and asked to pay £386 in costs and court surcharge by Bolton magistrates court. The 31-year-old had pleaded guilty in October and the sentence had been adjourned until Wednesday, January 8. The player was not present at the hearing.

The incident happened on March 5, 2024, and Maguire was also caught by speed cameras driving at 68mph in a 60mph zone three days later in his native Sheffield. The Englishman reportedly pleaded guilty to Sheffield magistrates in September last year and was ordered to pay a total of £1,028 in fines.

Interestingly, Wilmslow Road is the same area where Cristiano Ronaldo crashed his £220,000 Ferrari in 2009, during his time with Manchester United. The Portuguese, who was 23 at that time, escaped without any injuries.

CR7 had reportedly imported the car just two days earlier from Portugal and then crashed it into a wall. Thankfully, there were no pedestrians around, so no one was hurt and Cristiano Ronaldo was able to walk away without a scratch.

Cristiano Ronaldo was brought to Manchester United by the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. Under the Scottish manager's able guidance, the player transformed into one of the best in the world.

CR7 played 292 times under Sir Alex Ferguson, the most under one manager in his career, scoring 118 goals and setting up 62 more. He left the Red Devils in 2009 to move to Real Madrid and spent nine fruitful seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He then joined Juventus in the summer of 2018, spending three seasons in Turin before heading back to Old Trafford in 2021. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was Manchester United's manager at the time, but the Norwegian lost his job a few months after the Portuguese's arrival.

The Portuguese also played under Michael Carrick and Ralf Ragnick that season at Old Trafford, before Erik ten Hag took over in the summer of 2022. Ronaldo had a fallout with the Dutch manager and left Manchester United in unceremonious circumstances in December 2022 to join Al-Nassr.
