Manchester United right-back Noussair Mazraoui is reportedly set to be sidelined for a few weeks after picking up an injury in the Red Devils' latest Premier League match. The defender was brought off at half-time in the 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday (October 6).
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Morocco international has now undergone a precautionary corrective procedure for the issue. Providing an update about Mazraoui on his X account (formerly Twitter), the transfer expert wrote:
"Man Utd fullback Noussair Mazraoui has successfully undergone a minor precautionary corrective procedure after experiencing palpitations."
"This is a relatively common condition as he’s expected to make a full recovery and be available for selection within the next few weeks."
The 26-year-old only came to Old Trafford this summer from Bayern Munich for a reported fee of €15 million. He has since become the first choice in his position under manager Erik ten Hag.
Mazraoui has started every single Premier League and Europa League game for Manchester United in the 2024/25 campaign. From these appearances, the defender has registered an assist but has yet to bag his first goal for the club.
Now, the Red Devils will have to find solutions to this hole in the backline. During the second half of the draw against Aston Villa, Ten Hag decided to deploy Victor Lindelof at right-back, something we may see in the coming weeks.
Of course, Diogo Dalot too is available to fill in, but due to the dearth of fit left-backs, the Portugal international has had to play on that flank. It is likely that Lindelof will start on the right-hand side against Brentford on October 19.
Leny Yoro provides exciting update about Manchester United return
Manchester United centre-back Leny Yoro is seemingly nearing a return to full fitness. The France under-23 international signed for the Red Devils this summer from Lille for a reported fee of £59 million.
However, the defender was forced out after picking up an injury in pre-season action. According to Manchester Evening News, the 18-year-old could return in November.
Posting a video of himself running on the treadmill on his Instagram story, Yoro wrote in the caption:
"on the way back"
It will be interesting to see if Yoro can walk straight into the starting XI of the Red Devils squad, with a fair bit of competition available. The likes of Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Matthijs de Ligt are all competing for minutes in this area of the pitch.
