Manchester United target Nuno Mendes is all set to sign a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Portuguese left-back has emerged as a target for the Red Devils ahead of 2025.

Romano has previously revealed that the Premier League giants will sign a new left-back in 2025. Manchester United have suffered due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia's injury troubles.

The Englishman missed a chunk of last season due to injuries, managing just 15 appearances across competitions. Malacia, meanwhile, was sidelined for the entire campaign due to knee injury. Both players are yet to kick a ball this season but have returned to training.

Ruben Amorim took charge at Old Trafford earlier this month and is expected to implement his 3-4-3 system at the club. The Portuguese manager has apparently identified the left-back position as one that needs urgent attention.

The Red Devils have also been linked with a move for Alphonso Davies, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of this season. However, Real Madrid are believed to be the frontrunners in that race.

Mendes could have been a fine alternative to the Canadian and has already worked under Amorim at Sporting. The 22-year-old has taken his game to a higher level since joining the Parisians in 2022, initially on loan.

His move was made permanent last year, and Mendes has registered one goal and two assists from 10 games this season. His contract with PSG expires in 2026 and the Ligue 1 champions are now planning to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes.

Apart from Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, Manchester United have also been without Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Kobbie Mainoo of late due to knocks. Lisandro Martinez picked up a back problem during the international break and remains a doubt for the Ipswich game on Sunday, November 24.

Ruben Amorim has already hinted that Luke Shaw is likely to be eased into action, while Tyrell Malacia recently appeared for the Under-21s. Those two, as such, could be back for the Red Devils soon.

Leny Yoro picked up a foot injury during pre-season after joining Manchester United from Lille in the summer. However, he has returned to full training and could earn his debut against Ipswich Town.

Kobbie Mainoo has also resumed training after picking up a thigh injury last month, but Maguire and Lindelof remain sidelined.
