Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has reportedly rejected three offers from the Saudi Pro League. The Englishman is also reportedly drawing interest from MLS side Seattle Sounders FC.
As per a report in the Manchester Evening News by Samuel Luckhurst, Rashford has informed the Saudi Pro league clubs that he has no interest in moving to the Middle East. They were willing to offer the Englishman a £35 million per year contract, but the Manchester United forward has decided against the move.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that MLS side Seattle Sounders are also holding internal discussions about a move for the versatile forward. Rashford was left out of Manchester United's squad for four games in December 2024.
Rashford has admitted that he is looking for a new challenge and told Henry Winter last month:
"For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person. If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."
Manchester United are reportedly open to selling Marcus Rashford this month as he is no longer a part of Ruben Amorim's plans.
Manchester United told to back Ruben Amorim over Marcus Rashford by Alan Shearer
Alan Shearer has urged Manchester United to back Ruben Amorim over Marcus Rashford. Amorim omitted the Englishman from his squad for four games in December. Rashford returned to the matchday squad for their Premier League defeat against Newcastle United but remained an unused substitute.
The Premier League Hall of Famer believes that the situation is not healthy for the club and they need to let the Englishman leave in the January window. Shearer told Betfair (via GOAL):
“They have to back Amorim. They've brought him in because it hasn't been anywhere near good enough and he needs to sort that mess out. He has to be able to do what he wants, and the situation with Marcus Rashford will be sorted out, whether it's sorted out in January, I guess for both parties will come to an agreement, but that's part of the process of who he wants to get out of the club and who he wants to bring in."
"Clearly, it isn't a healthy situation for the club, if Marcus doesn't want to be there and the manager doesn't want him there either. If that is the case, then it's best for both parties that something sooner rather than later is sorted out – that's easier said than done when you're on a huge contract.”
Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with Marcus Rashford, while Arsenal and Tottenham are also said to be keeping tabs.
