AC Milan has fixed a minimum of €120 million over the possible sale of Rafael Leão amid interest from Barcelona, according to a report by Tuttomercatoweb (via Tribal Football).
Leão joined the Rossoneri from LOSC Lille for a reported €49.50 million in August 2019. The Portuguese international has arguably been a decent investment for Milan as his market valuation has risen in recent years.
In 233 appearances for AC Milan, he has scored 64 goals and registered 56 assists. Leão has also had a bright start to the 2024-25 campaign and has been key for Sérgio Conceicao on the left flank.
The 25-year-old is best known for his creativity and ability to deliver in the final third. In 23 games, Leão has netted six goals and registered seven assists this season.
Barcelona’s interest in signing Leão could be linked to uncertainty about Raphinha's future at the club. Fichajes.net had earlier reported that Barca might be willing to part with the Brazilian next summer.
Thus, the proceeds from Raphinha's possible sale could be used to finance Leão’s signing if both deals materialize. Leão’s attacking flexibility to feature in numerous attacking positions could also be key for Hansi Flick if signed.
However, the major deal breaker in this potential deal could be the €120 million that was reportedly set by Milan. This is due to the idea that Barca's recent financial constraint might restrict them from spending excessively in the transfer market.
