Fulham are reportedly interested in bringing back their academy graduate Fabio Carvalho, who currently plies his trade at Liverpool. Of late, Carvalho has been attracting the interest of different Premier League clubs following his impressive displays with the Reds in the preseason.
The Portugal international got himself on the scoresheet in Liverpool’s victory against Arsenal and Manchester United in pre-season. He recently joined Arne Slot’s side after completing his loan spells with RB Leipzig and Hull City. He scored nine goals and provided two assists in 20 appearances across competitions for the latter last season.
As per One Football, Liverpool value Carvalho at around £25 million, and they have turned down Southampton’s offer of around £12 million for the Portuguese attacker. After the Saints' unsuccessful bid, Leicester City and Fulham have entered the foray to sign him.
Fulham recently signed Smith Rowe from Arsenal. They are keen on pushing forward in their Premier League standings at the end of the 2024–25 season, having ended in the 13th position last season.
Carvalho will be hoping to get into Arne Slot's starting XI after analyzing the style that Slot wants to implement following their victory against Arsenal. However, he faces stiff competition during his playing time when Luiz Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo return from their Copa America and Euro 2024 breaks.
As such, he could be tempted to yield to Fulham’s offer, as he is seeking to be a regular starter despite having three years left on his contract at Anfield. Carvalho joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer of 2022 for a fee of €5.9 million but failed to find the groove before he was loaned out. He's made 21 senior appearances for them, scoring three goals.
Liverpool hold talks with Adrien Rabiot should Martin Zubimendi deal collapse
Liverpool have reportedly engaged in discussions with Adrien Rabiot, who is currently a free agent. They see him a contingency plan in the event their efforts to sign Martin Zubimendi fall through. The Reds are one of the teams that have yet to announce a new signing in the summer window of the 2024–25 campaign.
New coach Arne Slot is interested in bringing Real Sociedad defensive midfielder and Euro 2024 winner Zubimendi to Anfield to improve the No. 6 position at Liverpool. Zubimendi, whose release clause is €60 million, is yet to make a decision on whether to not leave Real Sociedad.
The Merseyside club are reportedly stepping up their attempts at activating his release clause. Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil is, however, persuading the 25-year-old to stay at the club for one more season, as per Evening Standard.
Consequently, the Reds have identified Adrien Rabiot as an apt replacement should they’re unable to bring him to Anfield, as per Football Insider. Real Sociedad have included Zubimendi in the squad that will play against Union Berlin in a preseason friendly on Friday, August 9.
