Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao next summer, according to a recent report by Fichajes.net (via Barca Universal). The Spaniard has established himself as one of the finest wingers in Europe in recent times.

PSG are looking to add some firepower to their attack, and it is believed that Williams would enhance their attacking prowess. The youngster’s versatility, with him having the skillset to play on both wings, could stand to benefit the Parisians if he is signed.

Bayern Munich's interest in signing Williams could be tied to the uncertainty of Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman's futures. Given his versatility, the Spaniard could replace Sane, whose contract expires in the summer.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have seemingly been interested in signing Williams since last summer. However, their recent financial constraints could weaken their chances of signing him ahead of PSG and Bayern.

The aforementioned report claims that Barca are still convinced that they can secure his signing next summer. Williams is a player that La Blaugrana consider to be in their long-term objectives.

In 23 appearances across all competitions this season, Williams has scored two goals and registered five assists for Athletic Bilbao.

Barcelona are leading the race to sign Leroy Sane, according to The Mirror (via Managing Barca). The publication also claimed that Sane has a special relationship with Hansi Flick, having previously worked together at Bayern.

Sane has proven to be an efficient forward since joining Bayern Munich from Manchester City for a reported €49 million in July 2020.

La Blaugrana's interest in signing the German international could be tied to his contract situation at Bayern. Sane's contract expires at the end of the season, and he's yet to sign an extension.

If he decides to leave Bayern, Barcelona could sign him as a free agent. In 19 appearances across all competitions this season, Sane has scored five goals and registered one assist.

Sane is a versatile winger who can feature in multiple attacking positions. Hence, he could be a decent and cheaper alternative to Nico Williams in the transfer market.
