Real Madrid attacker ready to leave club due to doubts over playing time after disappointing Copa America campaign Kylian Mbappe signing: Reports

Real Madrid have signed Kylian Mbappe this summer but attacker Rodrygo could leave the Santiago Bernabeu if he is unable to secure adequate game time. The Brazilian forward has not impressed for his country at the Copa America, and the Selecao have now been knocked out of the competition in the quarter-finals.

While he is expected to return to Spain and join up with other players for the start of pre-season, Rodrygo's future at Valdebebas is reportedly uncertain.

This may come as a surprise, seeing as the versatile Brazilian forward was a vital part of their run to win the continental double in the 2023-24 campaign. He contributed to eight goals in the Champions League and 15 goals in La Liga, lifting both trophies.

However, with the emergence of superstar Kylian Mbappe, playing time is no longer guaranteed for Rodrygo (via El Nacional). His poor showing at Copa America has also done little to help with his situation, as the forward played four games and failed to contribute a single goal.

In the meantime though, he will be planning for his return to Real Madrid, where he is seen in high regard by head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

With his contract ongoing till 2026, Rodrygo certainly has a place in the Los Blancos first-team squad but it may not be a consistent starting lineup spot as expected. If the club cannot promise him more minutes, an exit could be on the cards for the 23-year-old.

Former Brazil star urges Rodrygo to stay at Real Madrid

Former Brazil midfielder Diego Ribas has urged Rodrygo to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu as he believes the forward can still be an important player for the La Liga outfit.

There has been much speculation about the Brazilian forward's future after Los Blancos announced the signing of Kylian Mbappe.

Ribas has advised Rodrygo to stay with Real Madrid, saying:

"Rodrygo should stay at Madrid. He is playing very well, he just won the Champions League. He is a player who can play in any position, that gives him an advantage when playing. Madrid will always have a high-quality group, with many strong players, and a lot of competition to play with."
