Real Madrid believe Kylian Mbappe's goal against Valencia was unfairly ruled out for offside by VAR, according to RMTV. Los Blancos reportedly felt that VAR chose the wrong frame as the ball had already left Bellingham's foot for the pass in it.
The incident occurred during the LaLiga game at the Mestalla on Friday, January 3. The home side took the lead in the 27th minute through Hugo Duro, leaving Real Madrid to chase the game.
In the 60th minute, Jude Bellingham superbly turned on the ball just outside the box and fed Mbappe. The French superstar took the ball in his stride, rounded the goalkeeper, and scored.
However, the goal was checked by VAR, who decided that the 25-year-old had strayed offside and ruled out. It could have been a decisive moment in the game, especially after Vinicius Junior was given a straight red after clashing with Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski later in the game.
Real Madrid were able to respond in the dying minutes of the game. Luka Modric scored the equalizer in the 85th minute before Bellingham got on the scoresheet in the injury time to secure a 2-1 win. However, Los Blancos now feel that they were hard done by VAR's decision to rule out Kylian Mbappe's goal.
How many goals has Kylian Mbappe scored for Real Madrid this season?
Kylian Mbappe arrived at Real Madrid last summer as a free agent after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) expired. The Frenchman had been on the LaLiga champions' radar for ages, but they had previously failed to prise him away from the Parc des Princes.
Eventually, the player turned down renewal offers from the Parisians to join Los Blancos for free last summer. Mbappe enjoyed a brilliant start to his Santiago Bernabeu tenure, scoring in his debut in the UEFA Super Cup and winning his first trophy.
However, he has endured mixed fortunes so far with Real Madrid. While the player has registered 13 goals and three assists from 24 games across competitions, he hasn't been his prolific self yet.
One reason for his struggles could be his position on the pitch under Carlo Ancelotti. Mbappe prefers to operate in the left-forward role, but Vinicius Junior's presence has forced him to operate centrally so far. The Brazilian has also been in inspired form this season, registering 13 goals and nine assists from 21 games.
