Alessandro Bastoni joined Inter Milan from Atalanta in August 2017. He was later sent on season-long loan deals to Atalanta for the 2017/18 season and Parma during the 2018/19 campaign. Since his return from the temporary spells, the 25-year-old has become a crucial part of Inter's defence.

Bastoni has made 220 appearances for the Nerazzuri, bagging four goals and 22 assists across all competitions. The 25-year-old has made 19 appearances this season, assisting four goals and helping the side keep 11 clean sheets across comps. Additionally, he has played 33 matches for the Italy national team.

German defender Antonio Rudiger will turn 32 next summer and the timeline of David Alaba's potential return from knee injury is still uncertain. As a result, Los Blancos are shortlisting Eder Militao's long-term partner in defense and they see Alessandro Bastoni as a perfect fit.

However, signing the Italian defender will be tough for Los Blancos. As per the aforementioned report, Inter Milan value Bastoni highly and his ongoing contract with the Serie A giants runs until the summer of 2028.
