Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing a move for club legend Sergio Ramos after a season-ending injury to Eder Militao. The Brazilian went off with a knee injury during their LaLiga clash against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, November 9.
Militao had suffered an ACL injury in his left knee last summer, which saw him miss a big chunk of the 2023-24 season. He made just 13 appearances across competitions last season and had made 17 appearances this season. However, he went down screaming in pain at around the half-hour mark in Real Madrid's clash against Osasuna. He was stretchered off and replaced by Raul Asencio.
Los Blancos have confirmed that Militao has suffered an ACL injury in his right knee along with some other issues in that knee as well. As a result, he will miss the remainder of the season. This leaves the club with Antonio Rudiger as the only fit senior centre-back with Jesus Vallejo out of favor.
Hence, as per Fichajes.net, the Merengues are looking to sign Sergio Ramos, who is currently a free agent. The Spaniard spent 16 years at the club and helped them win numerous trophies. He registered 101 goals and 40 assists in 671 appearances for Real Madrid and also captained the side.
Ramos left the Santiago Bernabeu in 2021 and joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He then spent the last season at Sevilla but left them in the summer and is currently a free agent. As per the aforementioned report, Ramos will be open to returning to the Spanish giants if given an offer.
Vinicius helps Real Madrid hammer Osasuna to bounce back from back-to-back disappointments
Real Madrid haven't had the best start to the 2024-25 campaign despite winning the UEFA Super Cup. They have already lost more games across competitions this season (3) than they did in the entire 2023-24 season (2). They recently suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at home against arch-rivals Barcelona in LaLiga. It was then followed by another home defeat at the hands of AC Milan (3-1) in the UEFA Champions League.
However, they bounced back from it brilliantly on Saturday (November 9) against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu in LaLiga. Vinicius Jr. opened the scoring in the 34th minute before Jude Bellingham added a second in the 42nd minute. Vinicius then completed his hat-trick (61', 69') to secure a 4-0 win for the hosts.
Real Madrid, however, suffered a major setback in the game. While Eder Militao suffered a season-ending injury, Rodrygo Goes and Lucas Vazquez also suffered injuries and will be out for a few weeks.
