Real Madrid are considering making a move to sign former academy star Miguel Gutierrez from Girona in the January transfer window, as per Fichajes.net. The Spanish giants are in the market for defensive reinforcement and could look to make signings in January 2025.
Girona defender Gutierrez has been one of the leading lights for the Catalan club which appears to be struggling after a brilliant 2023-24 campaign in the Spanish top-flight. The Spaniard has made 24 appearances for Girona this season, contributing two goals and five assists for the Spanish outfit.
Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti is unsatisfied with the levels shown by left-back Fran Garcia since his arrival at the club, with the club now looking to sell him.
Like Gutierrez, the left-back was on the books of the Spanish giants before heading elsewhere to gain valuable minutes and eventually returning to the club. He has fallen out of favor at the Santiago Bernabeu, leading to talk of his exit.
Miguel Gutierrez is being primed to replace Garcia and potentially do the same to French defender Ferland Mendy at the club. He has been on the books of Girona since they paid €4 million for his services in 2022, and could potentially head back to his boyhood club in January.
Real Madrid were very keen on Alphonso Davies but the Canadian appears to be prepared to extend his contract with Bayern Munich. They have also been linked with former star Theo Hernandez as they continue to scour the market for left-back options.
The familiarity of the 23-year-old Gutierrez with the club and the possibility of the club retaining a buy-back clause makes him a very attractive option for them. His quality in attacking and defensive situations will also appeal to Ancelotti ahead of a potential transfer.
Real Madrid sour Jesus Navas' goodbye game with convincing win
Real Madrid took some of the joy out of the final game of Jesus Navas' professional career by defeating his Sevilla side 4-2 in LaLiga. Los Blancos managed to overtake rivals Barcelona with a win as Navas played the final game before his retirement.
Navas started on the bench for Sevilla as Kylian Mbappe, Federico Valverde, and Rodrygo put Real Madrid three goals up inside 34 minutes. Isaac Romero pulled one back for Sevilla within a minute but Brahim Diaz restored the three-goal advantage for Los Blancos in the 53rd minute.
Navas made his final appearance off the bench, and Dodi Lukebakio scored in the 85th minute to keep the scoreline more respectable. The Santiago Bernabeu faithful showed their class by applauding former Spain international Navas as his long career came to an end at the age of 39.
