Real Madrid have reportedly made a decision on Girona full-back Miguel Gutierrez, who they can sign for €8 million. This comes amidst injury woes for the club, with two of their full-backs currently out of contention.
Dani Carvajal has suffered an ACL injury, while Lucas Vasquez has suffered "an injury to the adductor longus of his left leg", as revealed by the club.
They have a number of full-backs who are available, including Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia - both left-backs. However, the club have been looking to improve in the position. This has pushed Real Madrid to turn towards the transfer market, with the window set to open again in January 2025.
There were reports that they were interested in a move for Miguel Gutierrez, who was part of Los Blancos' lineup back in 2022. However, they let him leave for Girona with a buy-back clause included in his contract, which would allow them to re-sign him for €8 million.
However, according to MARCA (via Madrid Universal), Real Madrid have decided against a move for Gutierrez this January. He has been in impressive form this season, scoring a goal and providing two assists in 12 appearances. This will not be enough to prompt a return to the Santiago Bernabeu though, as Madrid have decided on another option at full-back.
Los Blancos are said to have decided on Bayern Munich's full-back Alphonso Davies, instead. They can get the 24-year-old at the end of the season on a free transfer if they agree to a deal with the player and his representatives in the coming months.
Carlo Ancelotti worried that Real Madrid have "fallen very fast"
Carlo Ancelotti has revealed his concern about Real Madrid's poor run of form. Ahead of the international break, Los Blancos were shocked by losses to AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League and LaLiga Barcelona. Despite their 4-0 win over Osasuna on November 9, the club sit in second place on the LaLiga table, six points behind Barcelona.
After their 3-1 Champions League loss to Milan on November 5, Ancelotti shared his worries to the press, telling Movistar (via Eurosport):
“What isn't normal is that this team had a good run and has fallen very fast. That's part of football. When you think everything is perfect, you fall, but the good thing about football is that you can react.”
He added:
“Worry in these moments is normal. It will be a long night, but that's what we have to do, think, all of us, about improving things. When you aren't solid, you have to be more organized."
Carlo Ancelotti will hope that Real Madrid can keep the momentum going following their win over Osasuna. When they return from the international break, Los Blancos will face Leganes at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque in LaLiga on November 24.
