Real Madrid are ]exploring the possibility of offloading Eder Militao and David Alaba, according to a recent report by Real Madrid Confidencial (via Madrid Universal). This comes after the shortage at center-back has weakened the defense in recent months. Hence, Madrid are looking to remedy the situation by offloading some injury-prone defenders in their backline.
Alaba is a versatile and highly experienced defender having featured in several competitions. He joined Los Blancos from Bayern Munich as a free agent in July 2021 and has been a key player in defense.
However, he has suffered numerous injury setbacks and is yet to feature for Los Blancos this season. Alaba is recovering from an anterior cruciate tear and he's expected to return to the pitch in January 2025.
Meanwhile, Militao has also been a leader in defense since joining Madrid from Porto for a reported €50 million in July 2019.
However, the Brazilian registered 17 appearances this season before suffering a cruciate ligament tear. Militao is expected to be on the sidelines for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.
Alaba has missed Madrid's last 59 games across all competitions while Militao has missed the last seven games. This could be why Madrid are presently looking to offload the duo despite their importance in the squad.
Real Madrid interested in signing Dominik Szoboszlai next summer - Reports
Real Madrid are interested in signing Dominik Szoboszlai from Liverpool next summer, according to a report by Fichajes.net. Since joining Liverpool from RB Leipzig for a reported €70 million in July 2023, Szoboszlai has been outstanding.
His brilliance hasn't gone under the radar as Madrid are looking to sign him to bolster their midfield. In 22 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool this season, the Hungarian has scored two goals and registered three assists.
However, Szoboszlai's technicality to enhance the attack and defense seems to be what might have attracted Madrid. His versatility to feature in multiple positions in midfield could also enhance Madrid's outlook in midfield if signed.
The major dilemma in this potential deal as per the aforementioned report could be the transfer fee. With a market value of €75 million, it's expected that Liverpool will damnd at least €100 million for Szoboszlai. The Hungarian is contracted at Anfield till June 2028, further indicating that signing him will not be cheap.
