While Carlo Ancelotti asserted on multiple occasions that Real Madrid weren't in the transfer market for any more possible signings this summer, plans could reportedly have changed for Los Blancos. According to El Nacional, Real Madrid could be on the brink of securing a deal for Bayern Munich's star left-back Alphonso Davies.

Previously, the club's plans to wait until 2025 to sign the Canadian international on a free transfer were reported widely. But recent developments could've prompted the 15-time Champions League winners to reconsider their strategy.

Bayern Munich are facing difficulties in renewing Davies' contract, which is set to expire in 2025 if the reports coming out of Germany are to be believed. With the prospect of losing him for free, the Bavarian giants are considering selling the 23-year-old this summer to recuperate some profit.

The Bavarian club have reportedly set an asking price of €50 million, but there is speculation that the deal could be struck for around €30 million—a figure Real Madrid might find appealing.

Further, the acquisition of Davies could push left-back pairing Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia's position into a bit of contention.

A look at the impact on the squad with Alphonso Davies' possible arrival at Real Madrid

The potential signing of Alphonso Davies would bring an expected shift to Real Madrid’s defensive lineup, affecting the left-back position. Davies, known for his explosive pace and attacking flair, wouldn't prefer to move to any club that doesn't offer him a first-team role.

But then there's Ferland Mendy, who has been a steady presence on the left flank for the Los Merengues. Ancelotti highly values the French left-back for his defensive reliability, but with Davies in the fold, Mendy might either shift into a more rotational role or even potentially move to a different position within the defense.

Moreover, the competition between Mendy and Davies could help them elevate their performances, giving Madrid formidable options in attacking and defending capacity.

Expectedly, Fran García, who rejoined Real Madrid last summer, could be the most affected. Despite showing promise, his performances during the pre-season have not convinced Ancelotti, making him vulnerable to losing his spot. If Davies arrives, García could find himself relegated to the bench or even out of the squad entirely.
