Real Madrid are reportedly set to offload 25-year-old goalkeeper Andriy Lunin despite renewing his contract this summer. The Ukrainian keeper's current contract runs until June 2030.
Andriy Lunin joined Real Madrid from Zorya Luhansk in June 2018 for a reported €8.5 million. However, the shot-stopper has spent most of his time as a loanee in other clubs. The Ukraine international has usually been relegated as the second choice due to the presence of Thibaut Courtois. In 53 appearances for Los Merengues across competitions, Lunin has kept 18 clean sheets.
According to AS, Real Madrid are set to part ways with Andriy Lunin despite the keeper signing a new contract in September, keeping him at the club till 2030. Both the shot-stopper and the management are open to hearing viable offers.
Lunin's potential departure could mean Real Madrid will have to look for another backup option. Los Blancos employ only two keepers in the first team and may hunt the market for a viable option to replace Thibaut Courtois in case of injuries.
The Belgian goalkeeper had notably missed 42 games for Los Blancos in the 2023-24 season owing to a ligament injury. During Courtois' absence, Andriy Lunin and their loan signing Kepa Arrizabalaga filled in. Courtois has also missed five games for Los Blancos this season due to injuries.
Real Madrid set to sign Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold: Reports
According to MARCA (h/t ESPN), Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold has decided to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2025. The right-back's contract at Anfield runs out in June 2025 with no reports of a renewal. The Englishman can also sign a pre-contract agreement with Los Blancos starting January 1 though a move in the winter transfer window is ruled out.
Alexander-Arnold has been linked to a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for a while. Rumors further grew after Dani Carvajal's season-ending ACL injury earlier this year. The aforementioned report suggests that Alexander-Arnold's transfer to Los Blancos is imminent as the Englishman has reportedly already communicated his decision to the Reds.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is often considered one of the best right-backs of this generation. The 26-year-old has given 62 Premier League assists in 243 games so far, the third-highest for the club behind Steven Gerrard (92) and Mohamed Salah (82). Alexander-Arnold's potential pairing with Rodrygo on the right side of the pitch could be a lethal combination for Carlo Ancelotti's side if a transfer is finalized.
