Real Madrid plotting £50m bid for Manchester United star in January: Reports

Real Madrid are reportedly plotting a £50 million offer for Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot in January. As reported by Centredevils on X (via journalist Peter Hall), Los Blancos view the Portugal international as an alternative to their primary target Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a switch to Real Madrid in recent months as he faces an uncertain future at Liverpool. The creative full-back has his current deal at Anfield expiring in the summer and the situation has quite naturally sparked plenty of speculation.

There have been contradictory reports on the 26-year-old's future of late as the Spanish media claim that he will join Los Blancos on a free transfer. Meanwhile, various reports in England claim that he is in negotiations with his boyhood club and could extend his deal.

Real Madrid even reportedly made an offer for the England international recently which was swiftly turned down by Liverpool. It has now been claimed that the Spanish capital club are considering alternatives to the Reds' vice-captain.

Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot is reportedly the player they want amid uncertainty regarding Alexander-Arnold's potential availability. Dalot moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2018 in a reported £19 million deal from FC Porto.

The Portugal international has made 186 appearances for Manchester United so far having contributed six goals and 12 assists. The 25-year-old has not enjoyed a particularly impressive campaign this time out, having only produced two assists in 29 games.

Real Madrid are short of both quality and depth at the heart of the defense, with David Alaba and Eder Militao both out with ACL injuries. Antonio Rudiger is the only senior centre-back available at Ancelotti's disposal apart from out-of-favor Jesus Vallejo.

Raul Asencio has been promoted to the first team this season and has made nine appearances for Los Blancos. Ancelotti has also used Aurelien Tchouameni at an unnatural centre-back position this season.
