Real Madrid are in a defensive crisis but are reportedly looking to bring in a striker in January. Los Blancos are said to have set sights on bringing in Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

As per a report in Fichajes, Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign a striker in the upcoming winter window and sees the former Arsenal star as an ideal fit. Lacazette's contract with the French giants runs down next summer and he will be available for €5 million when the window reopens.

Los Blancos believe that the addition will help them get back in the title race and also help them retain the UEFA Champions League. They are aware of the financial situation of the Ligue1 side and believe they can sign the experienced striker.

Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to wait until the end of the season as well, if they do not agree a deal with Lyon over a January move. The report comes as a surprise as they have Kylian Mbappe leading the attack and Endrick as his backup in the squad.

The report suggests Ancelotti wants an experienced player added to the squad and sees the former Arsenal man as the ideal fit.

Real Madrid told to not sign players in January

Nacho Fernandez spoke about his former side Real Madrid earlier this month, stating the club should not be signing players in January. He claimed that it was time to trust the youngster from the academy and said (via beINSports):

“I’d love for them to give the kids from the academy a chance instead of signing someone. If the club and coach are willing to be bold, this is the perfect time to make room for the young players.”

When quizzed if the club are interested in bringing him back or if he would be interested in moving, he added:

“I haven’t received any calls from Real Madrid. I knew exactly what I wanted, even knowing I might play between 30 and 50 games. I’m very happy here, and now I support Real Madrid as a fan.”

When quizzed about the possibility of Sergio Ramos making a return, he continued:

“Sergio is a legend and a friend. It would be nice to see him back with the club, but I don’t have any information. From what’s being said in Spain, it doesn’t seem very likely."

Nacho current plays in the Saudi Pro League for Al Qadisiyah.
