Real Madrid set to make decision on Manchester United and Liverpool target with £29m release clause: Reports

As per reports, Real Madrid are prepared to make a decision on Manchester United and Liverpool target Miguel Gutierrez. The 23-year-old full-back plays for Girona and has a release clause of £29 million.

According to TBR Football, Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Arsenal have set their eyes on Gutierrez, with Manchester City also seeking his services. City notably have a close relationship with Girona, as both clubs are part of the City group. This saw them sign exciting winger Savinho from the Spanish outfit in the recently concluded transfer window.

However, Gutierrez's situation is more complicated, as the left-back was born in Madrid and came through the Spanish giants' La Fabrica academy. A return to his roots may be more appealing to him, especially as Real Madrid added a buy-back clause when they sold him to Girona in 2022.

Los Blancos reportedly sold him for just £4.1 million and retained 50% of his rights. The buy-back clause is set at £6.6 million, much lower than his release clause. Real Madrid have contemplated making a move for Gutierrez's return. However, they are uncertain about this, as he could struggle for playing time.

The Spanish giants have players like Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia occupying the left-back role. A potential move for Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, who Real are said to be interested in, will also make it even more difficult to give Gutierrez playing time.

Miguel Gutierrez's words about a potential return to Real Madrid resurface amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United

Liverpool and Manchester United are both interested in Miguel Gutierrez, but it seems his heart is set on a return to the Santiago Bernabeu. Back in February 2023, he revealed in an interview with Spanish outlet AS (via Managing Madrid):

“Of course, it’s something that I have in mind, Madrid has always been my home and thanks to the club, I am this player now. I am clear that we have to continue doing things well at Girona and we will see in the summer.. Going back to Madrid, home, would be very nice..."

It is no surprise that Gutierrez has been earmarked as a potential signing by big European clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United, particularly following his performances. After graduating from Real Madrid's La Fabrica academy, he made 10 first-team appearances for Los Blancos, before joining Girona in 2022.

Since then, he has been a source of creativity down his flank, scoring four goals and creating 14 assists in 84 appearances for the club across all competitions. His performances also helped Girona finish in third place last season, just four points behind Barcelona, who came second. This season, he has provided one assist in seven La Liga games.
