Real Madrid midfielder Nico Paz is reportedly keen to leave the club this summer in search of regular playing time. CD Leganes are among the clubs interested in signing him.
Paz has come through Los Blancos' academy La Fabrica. He made his senior debut in a 3-0 win over Braga in the UEFA Champions League group stage in November 2023. He then scored a goal in their 4-2 win over Napoli in the competition later that month.
In total, Paz made eight senior appearances last season across competitions. He also joined the squad for their pre-season tour in the US this summer and scored in a 2-1 defeat against Barcelona. However, once the season starts, the youngster is likely to be on the bench behind the likes of Luka Modric, Jude Bellingham, and Arda Guler.
Hence, as per El Nacional, Paz is looking to leave Real Madrid this summer to get proper game time. Newly promoted side Leganes are one of the options where he can continue to play in the Spanish top flight. This would be a loan move though as Paz looks to impress Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian manager has already agreed to a potential move for the youngster for his development.
Thibaut Courtois asserts Real Madrid will be ready for UEFA Super Cup
In their first competitive game of the 2024-25 season, Los Blancos will take on Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup on August 14 in Poland. Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League final last season. Meanwhile, Atalanta handed Bayer Leverkusen their only defeat of the season across competitions, winning 3-0 in the Europa League final.
Los Blancos goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash, saying (via Managing Madrid):
“We’re going to be ready to play against Atalanta. They play some good football, they press all over the pitch. We played against them in the Champions League a few years back and it was a really hard game. We know this will be a difficult match but we’re going to try our best to win it. We want to clinch the trophy,”
Atalanta are without a win in their pre-season, drawing 2-2 against AZ Alkmaar before losing 4-1 against Parma and 3-0 against FC St. Pauli.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, lost 1-0 against AC Milan and 2-1 against Barcelona before beating Chelsea 2-1 in their pre-season friendlies.
