Real Madrid are preparing to face Valencia at the Mestalla on Friday, January 3, in LaLiga. Carlo Ancelotti's team are second in the league after 18 games, a point behind leaders Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos have set their sights on an Argentinean midfielder who plays for Liverpool. Elsewhere, the Spanish champions have been backed to let Vinicius Junior go for an astronomical fee.

On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from December 30, 2024.

Real Madrid eyeing Alexis Mac Allister

Real Madrid have set their sights on Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister, according to Fichajes. The reigning Spanish champions are looking for a new creative midfielder to fill the shoes of Toni Kroos.

The legendary German retired this summer and Los Blancos are yet to sign his replacement. Multiple names have been linked with a move to Real Madrid for the job in recent times.

It now appears that Los Blancos have now set their sights on Mac Allister. The Argentinean has been in superb form since leaving Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2023 to join Liverpool.

This season, Mac Allister has registered three goals and two assists from 25 games under Arne Slot, 21 of which have been starts. His efforts have helped the Reds sit at the top of the Premier League as well as the Champions League table.

Mac Allister's performances have turned heads at the Santiago Bernabeu as well, but prising him away from Anfield won't be easy. The player is under contract until 2028, so Liverpool are under no pressure to let him go. It is believed that Mac Allister could cost around €100m, which could be a dealbreaker for Real Madrid.

Los Blancos tipped to offload Vinicius Junior

Real Madrid could offload Vinicius Junior for €300m, according to former club scout Manolo Romero. The Brazilian forward narrowly missed out on the Ballon d'Or this year, but won FIFA's The Best Award.

Vinicius has been on Saudi Arabia's radar for a while but Los Blancos have refused to let him go so far. The 24-year-old hasn't shown any inclinations of leaving the LaLiga champions either but Romero believes that a move could materialise for a massive fee.

Speaking recently, as cited by SPORT, the former scout hinted that Kylian Mbappe's arrival could force Vinicius out of Real Madrid.

“I was convinced that he would leave. If they come with more than €300 million, I am convinced that Florentino will sell him, that he even takes him to the airport in his car. The thing is that €300 million is a lot of money. I think Florentino’s darling is going to be Mbappe. He has been behind him for seven years,” said Romero.

Vinicius Junior has registered 13 goals and nine assists from 20 games across competitions this season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold won't leave in January, says Fabrizio Romano

Trent Alexander-Arnold won't be leaving Liverpool in January, according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The English right-back's contract with Liverpool expires at the end of this season and he hasn't signed a new deal yet.

Speculation are ripe regarding the player's future and the Reds have been tipped to cash in on him in January to prevent losing him for free in six months. However, Romano has stated that the player won't leave in the winter.

Los Blancos have reportedly identified him as a possible replacement for Dani Carvajal, who is on the wrong side of 30. The LaLiga champions are apparently planning to sign Alexander-Arnold next summer for free. However, Real Madrid are also ready to dive for him if Liverpool have a change of heart and decides to offload him in the winter transfer window.
