Real Madrid have won 12 and lost just twice in the league this season. Carlo Ancelotti's team are second in the league table after 18 games, a point behind leaders Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos have set their sights on a Portuguese midfielder who plays for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Elsewhere, the LaLiga champions have ended their pursuit of Aymeric Laporte.
On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from December 27, 2024.
Real Madrid eyeing Vitinha
Real Madrid are interested in Vitinha, according to AS. The LaLiga giants are in the process of shortlisting their targets for 2025 and want to strengthen two positions next year.
A new right-back is on their agenda, while Los Blancos are also planning to rope in a new creative midfielder. Vitinha has popped up on their radar.
The Portuguese has been a first-team regular for PSG since arriving at the club in 2022. This season, the 24-year-old has registered three goals from 20 games across competitions, 17 of which have been starts.
Real Madrid are pleased with his efforts and are apparently willing to take him to the Santiago Bernabeu next year. Los Blancos are yet to replace Toni Kroos, who retired at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, Luka Modric is in the final phase of his career and isn't expected to continue much longer. The Croatian's contract expires at the end of this season and he hasn't been offered a new deal yet.
The LaLiga giants want to rope in Vitinha to maintain the quality in the middle of the park. However, the Portuguese is under contract with PSG until 2027 and is likely to cost a fat fee.
Los Blancos end Aymeric Laporte pursuit
Aymeric Laporte is unlikely to secure a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2025, according to Real Madrid Confidencial. Carlo Ancelotti has asked for the Spain international to address his defensive woes.
The Italian manager is without Eder Militao and David Alaba at the moment due to injuries and has had to deploy Aurelien Tchouameni as a makeshift centre-back. Ancelotti had asked the club hierarchy to sign Laporte to address the issue, but Los Blancos have denied his request for two reasons.
The club believe that the player doesn't match the profile they are searching for in the market. Second, the LaLiga giants also feel that Al-Nassr's asking price for Laporte is too steep.
Real Madrid have agreement in place with Alphonso Davies
Real Madrid have already reached an agreement with Alphonso Davies regarding a move at the end of this season, according to journalist Mario Cortegana. It is believed that the two parties agreed terms for a move as early as February this year.
The player's camp discussed terms for a move this summer as well as the end of the current season. While the move didn't materialize this year, next summer's transfer remains on the cards.
Davies' contract expires in just over six months and Bayern Munich are keen to tie the player down to a new deal. Although the 24-year-old is yet to make a decision on his future, a move to the Santiago Bernabeu also remains a possibility.
