Real Madrid are putting together final preparations ahead of their trip to the Estadio de Vallecas to face Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga on Saturday, December 14. Carlo Ancelotti's team are second in the league after 16 games, two points behind Barcelona, who have played a game more.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos have set their sights on a Spanish forward. Elsewhere, the Spanish champions remain keen to see Florian Wirtz at the Santiago Bernabeu.
On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from December 13, 2024.
Real Madrid eyeing Nico Williams
According to Cadena SER, Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Nico Williams. The Spanish forward was outstanding for Athletic Bilbao last season, helping them win the Copa del Rey.
Williams also played a starring role in La Roja's Euro 2024 triumph. The 22-year-old was a target for Barcelona this summer, but they failed to prise him away.
While the player ended up staying at San Mames, he is expected to take the next step in his career at the end of this season. Barca remain linked with a move once again but will face competition from Los Blancos.
The LaLiga champions are looking to add more Spanish players to their roster in 2025 and have their eyes on Williams. Real Madrid are apparently looking for an upgrade on Rodrygo Goes, who has struggled this season.
The Spanish forward has been identified as the ideal candidate to replace the Brazilian. Rodrygo was linked with an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu this year and reportedly has admirers in the Premier League.
Unless the Brazilian's form improves, Los Blancos could cash in on him next summer and move for Williams.
Los Blancos want Florian Wirtz
According to Todo Fichajes, Real Madrid remain interested in Florian Wirtz. The German midfielder has been outstanding for Bayer Leverkusen of late and helped them secure a league and cup double last season.
Wirtz has been equally decisive this campaign, registering 10 goals and five assists from 23 games across competitions. Los Blancos have identified him as the ideal candidate to help shore up their midfield.
With Toni Kroos gone and Luke Modric in the final phase of his career, the 21-year-old could inject creativity into Carlo Ancelotti's squad. However, Wirtz is a wanted man right now and is also being eyed by Liverpool and Manchester City. He is under contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2027 and is expected to cost more than €100m.
Real Madrid ready to end Alphonso Davies pursuit
Real Madrid are willing to pull the plug on their pursuit of Alphonso Davies, according to Cadena SER via SPORT. The Canadian speedster is set to enter the final six months of his contract with Bayern Munich and hasn't signed a new deal yet.
The LaLiga giants remain linked with a Bosman move for the player next summer but are now having second thoughts about the move. They are unimpressed by the lack of response from Davies' camp.
With the Canadian already assessing his options amid rising interest in his services, Los Blancos apparently believe the deal is lost. As such, if Davies doesn't provide a positive response to their approach in January, they will consider alternatives.
