Real Madrid are leading the LaLiga title race after 19 games this season, two points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid. However, Diego Simeone's side have a game in hand and can go back on top with a win.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos have decided to part ways with a French midfielder this year. Elsewhere, Arsenal have set their sights on Arda Guler.
On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from January 5, 2025.

Real Madrid are ready to cash in on Aurelien Tchouameni in 2025, according to Fichajes.net. The LaLiga giants are planning to rope in a new organizer for their midfield and want to fund the move by offloading Tchouameni.
The Frenchman has failed to impress this season and Los Blancos have apparently lost faith in the player. The 24-year-old has registered 21 appearances across competitions this season, even covering at the back to help the club deal with their defensive woes.
However, Tchouameni's performances have left a lot to be desired and Real Madrid are now ready to let him go. Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are reportedly eyeing the French midfielder with interest.
Arsenal eyeing Arda Guler

Arsenal are planning to move for Arda Guler this month, according to The Daily Mail. The Turkish youngster has struggled for game time under Carlo Ancelotti but remains highly regarded at Real Madrid.
This season, Guler has registered one goal and three assists from 20 games, but only seven of them have been starts. The Gunners are now ready to offer him a chance at regular football.
However, the player is under contract until 2029 and Los Blancos would be reluctant to let him go. A loan deal in January could be a possibility.
Los Blancos unlikely to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold in January, says journalist

Real Madrid are unlikely to secure the services of Trent Alexander-Arnold in January, according to journalist Alex Crook. The Englishman has entered the final six months of his contract with Liverpool and is yet to sign a new deal.
Los Blancos are apparently planning to sign him on a Bosman move at the end of this season. Interestingly, recent reports have suggested that the club could also be plotting a move for the 26-year-old in the winter for a nominal fee.
However, speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Crook insisted that the Englishman doesn't want to leave Anfield in January.
“Obviously, there’s talk in Spain that they’re going to formalise an offer of around 20 million pounds. Liverpool aren’t going to sell Trent Alexander-Arnold for 20 million pounds mid-season, not when they’re competing for the Premier League and for the Champions League. And from what I’m told by sources close to the player, he doesn’t want to leave in those circumstances either,” said Crook.
He continued:
“If he does go, he wants to be at the end of the season, hopefully from him, his perspective in a blaze of glory. So I don’t see Trent leaving this month. And I think, actually, Real Madrid have been a little bit naughty with the way that they’ve conducted this so publicly when Liverpool and Trent are determined to try and keep it on the low.”
Alexander-Arnold has apparently been identified as a possible successor for Dani Carvajal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
