Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ahli have reportedly earmarked Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus as a top target ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Jesus, 27, suffered a fall in the Gunners' pecking order in the 2023-24 season with Kai Havertz replacing him as the side's first-choice number nine. He recorded eight goals and provided as many assists in 36 matches across all competitions, starting just 21 of them.
Havertz, on the other hand, transformed himself into a capable number nine option for his club last season. The 25-year-old German registered 14 goals, including 13 in the Premier League, in 51 total games.
Now, according to Metro, Al-Ahli are interested in adding Jesus to their ranks in the summer transfer window. They are also aiming to sign Tottenham Hotspur attacker Richarlison before the start of the next term.
Jesus, who left Manchester City to join Arsenal in a £45 million switch in 2022, has a contract until June 2027 at his current team. He has contributed 19 goals and 15 assists in 69 appearances for the Gunners.
Fabrizio Romano shares positive update on Arsenal's ongoing pursuit of Serie A player
In his Daily Briefing column for Caught Offside, journalist Fabrizio Romano insisted that the Gunners will secure Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori's signature soon. He wrote:
"The 'here we go' is coming because there is an agreement on a €40 million fixed fee, €5 million in add-ons, and a sell-on clause for Bologna. Calafiori had already agreed a contract with Arsenal back in June, which would be until 2029, so everything is ready for him. Calafiori has asked Bologna to be allowed to fulfil his dream and go to Arsenal, so it will be completed in the next days."
Heaping praise on the left-footed versatile defender, Romano added:
"Despite some reports that the deal had stalled, the reality is that the negotiations never stopped. It was not easy, but they kept going, and now there's an agreement. [Gunners] fans can be excited by this signing – I think he can do great in the Premier League, he's an excellent player. We saw that with his form in the Serie A and with Italy at the [UEFA Euro 2024] also."
Calafiori, 22, helped Bologna record 16 shutouts in 33 appearances last campaign, contributing two goals and five assists along the way.
Should the Italian defender join Arsenal, he would emerge as their first-choice left-back over Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
