Spain legend Sergio Ramos is reportedly interested in securing a permanent move to La Liga champions Real Madrid in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Ramos, who will turn 39 next March, has been a free agent since departing Sevilla earlier this summer. He started all 37 of his appearances across competitions for his boyhood club past campaign, scoring seven times in the process.
Now, according to Spanish outlet AS, Ramos is waiting for a call from Los Merengues with the team currently on the hunt for a centre-back due to their injury crisis. However, the possibility of the player rejoining his former club is unlikely.
Should Ramos join Carlo Ancelotti's side on a Bosman move, he would pop up as a rotational option for them. He would act as a temporary replacement for Eder Militao, who is out for the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Ramos, who has also recently been linked with San Diego and Boca Juniors, made 671 overall appearances for Real Madrid between 2005 and 2021. He helped Los Blancos win 22 trophies, including four UEFA Champions League crowns.
Fabrizio Romano offers update on Real Madrid transfer target Trent Alexander-Arnold's future
Earlier this Saturday (December 28), Spanish news outlet MARCA insisted that Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is keen to join Los Blancos. The defender has informed the Reds' hierarchy about his latest stance ahead of 2025.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, acclaimed transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the 33-cap England international's future amid latest speculations. He opined (h/t OneFootball):
"Trent is not a topic for January. [He] will finish the season at Liverpool for sure. His full focus is on Liverpool. Liverpool are doing fantastic and Trent is doing fantastic, so everything is under control for the summer. Real Madrid want Trent. [They] are working on a deal for Trent. [They] will push to sign Trent. [They] are there since March, not today, not yesterday, not one month ago – March."
Sharing more thoughts on the player's potential move, Romano added:
"What I can tell you at the moment is that nothing is agreed. Nothing is done. Nothing has been communicated, so Liverpool are still in the mix, still talking to the player, waiting to see how this conversation will go on [their] side and Real Madrid's side. From January, Real Madrid are officially allowed to talk to the player and see what happens, but nothing has been communicated yet."
Alexander-Arnold, who is in the final six months of his contract, has recorded five assists in 22 total appearances for Arne Slot's side so far this season.
