Serie A giants ready to rival Barcelona for signature of 24-year-old forward: Reports

Serie A giants Inter Milan are prepared to rival Barcelona for the signature of 24-year-old Lille forward Jonathan David. According to a report from Italian outlet SportItalia (via SempreInter), quite a few clubs are monitoring the Canadian striker's contract situation in France.

David will be out of a contract with Lille by the summer of 2025. This means clubs can start speaking to him officially this coming January. It is no surprise that he has piqued the interest of clubs across Europe, having scored 17 goals and provided four assists in 24 games so far this season. Last season, he was just as brilliant, scoring 26 and providing nine in 47 games.

Inter would like to sign the 24-year-old striker on a free transfer in the summer. However, they will need to be wary of strong interest from other clubs, especially in Spain, where Barcelona are on alert. The report has also revealed that Jonathan David's childhood dream is to play for the Catalan giants.

The Lille forward has also spoken about rumors linking him to a Premier League move (via Sky Sports):

"My future? Focused on getting this great club back to Europe where it belongs. The rest will come. Premier league? One of the best leagues in the world, why not?"

Jonathan David and Lille will face Marseille in their Ligue 1 clash on December 14 at the Stade Velodrome.

Barcelona manager sanctioned with two-match suspension after red card during Real Betis clash

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has been sanctioned by the RFEF Disciplinary Committee after he was shown a red card during their La Liga match against Real Betis. A late goal from the hosts saw the Blaugrana drop points, as the match ended 2-2 at the Benito Villamarin on December 7.

Speaking to the press after that match, Flick protested his innocence, revealing he had not reacted towards the referee. The manager was openly displeased when a penalty was awarded to Betis, which Giovani Lo Celso scored in the 68th minute, leading to his red card. Flick said (via GOAL):

"I didn't say anything to anyone, it was just my reaction. It was my reaction... I don't agree with my expulsion. It's never happened to me before. But maybe it's something from here. I was angry with myself, not with anyone."

However, the Disciplinary Committee have upheld the red card, suspending Hansi Flick for two games (via beIN Sports). He will be unavailable for their upcoming league matches against Leganes on December 15 and Atletico Madrid on December 21. Both matches will take place in Barcelona's home: the Olimpic Lluis Companys.
