According to a report by Calciomercato, Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee is a transfer target for Serie A giants Juventus. The Italian giants are managed by his former manager at Bologna, Thiago Motta, and a reunion is reportedly on the cards for the pair in Turin.
Zirkzee played 57 games under the Italian tactician, scoring 14 times and providing nine assists before securing a € 42.5 million move to the Red Devils in the summer. He has not enjoyed his best football in Manchester, first under the fired Erik Ten Hag, who signed him, or his permanent replacement, Ruben Amorim. He has bagged just four goals and two assists in 1018 minutes across 25 games in all competitions.
The 23-year-old striker is in his first season with Manchester United and is contracted to the 20-time English champions until the summer of 2029. The Red Devils will have to decide if he is part of their long-term plans, with the Serie A giants hovering to secure his services in the coming windows.
"If I knew, I would solve all the problems of the club" - Ruben Amorim unsure how to fix Manchester United's problems
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is unsure of a way to fix the club's niggling issues after their 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth on Sunday. The loss sees the English giants relegated to the bottom half of the league table at Christmas for the first time in the Premier League era.
Amorim was hired to replace Erik Ten Hag in November after the Dutchman's stewardship devolved into a struggle for a midtable finish. The Red Devils have failed to pick up a consistent run of results since his appointment, and in a recent interview, he said via SkySports:
"It's a difficult question to answer, and we have to know that: don't let this become normal. I understand that it's a tough moment and it's on me. Since the first day I arrived, it's on me because I'm responsible for the team.
"We cannot think about that, we have to think about improving, to understand the context and not focus on what happened in the past. The present is this, what we have to do in the future is [not let this] happen again. If I knew, I would solve all the problems of the club."
Ruben Amorim will lead Manchester United to the Molyneux Stadium on Boxing Day to face Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Portuguese tactician will be keen to end his side's two-game losing streak when they return from the Christmas festivities.
