English defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has told Liverpool directors that he wants to join Real Madrid next summer, as per Spanish outlet MARCA. His current contract with the Reds will expire in the summer of 2025, with Alexander-Arnold entering the last six months of his deal in January.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been a part of Liverpool since 2004. After playing for the Merseyside outfit's youth side, the Englishman made his senior debut in 2016. Since then, he has become a top star in English top-tier football, making 332 appearances for the side, bagging 19 goals and 85 assists across all competitions.
However, his time at Anfield might end in the summer. His contract renewal is getting difficult for the Reds as the 26-year-old is keen to join the La Liga giants. Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder and Alexander-Arnold's England teammate, Jude Bellingham has played a pivotal role in convincing Trent Alexander-Arnold to join Los Blancos, as per the aforementioned report.
Real Madrid want to sign a long-term replacement for Spanish right-back Dani Carvajal, who is 32 years old now. Los Blancos have also been linked with Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, who will be out of contract next summer. Carlo Ancelotti sees Alphonso Davies as an upgrade on Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.
Due to the injuries of Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao and David Alaba, Los Blancos are considering a complete defense rebuilt in the summer transfer window.
